US Egg Industry General US Stats | UEP Monthly Egg Stats General US Stats Egg Industry Fact Sheet • Per capita consumption is a measure of total egg production divided by the total population.
• Currently, the top ten egg producing states (ranked by number of layers represented in thousands) are:
•Of the 209.1 million cases (estimated) of shell eggs produced in 2008: • For the first 11 months of 2009, cumulative exports of processed egg products set a year-on-year record high in history at $97.43 million, an increase of 15.6% over the same period a year earlier, thanks to increased shippments to Canada, EU-27 and Saudi Arabia. Tables eggs export volume increased 30.8 percent year-on-year to 67.45 million dozen, with an export value of $50.83 million, up 12.6%. • Exports of processed egg products to Japan, the single largest market, decreased to $30.57 million, a decrease of 5.9% over the same period a year earlier. Japan accounted for 34.5% of total value of exports in the first eleven months of of 2009. Exports to The EU-27 totaled $25.49 million, up 29.3% year on year. Exports to Canada were up 120.1% year-on-year to $13.16 million. Sales to Mexico decreased 2.4 percent to $6.27 million. • Table egg exports to Hong Kong, the top market for U.S. table eggs for years, reached 22.89 million dozen, an increase of 51.3% year to year. Shipments to Canada totaled 23.49 million dozen, up 7.4% from the same period a year earlier.
